TOP DESSERT PLACES IN CEBU

I am not the type of person who will shy away and resist great food. Before traveling to a new city or country, I research on where I can get the best foods. I then bring this list with me on my journey in the hopes that I may at least partake of food so renowned so that I may also make my judgment on them. I do this also in the hopes of giving my readers a guide on where they may eat the best dishes.

Since it is the New Year, I am going to write more on cities in the Philippines. Cebu is fast becoming one of the top tourist attractions in the country because of its proximity to Bohol’s renowned Chocolate Hills, as well as the sun-kissed islands of Bantayan and nearby Siquijor. Cebu is the gateway to the islands of Visayas so if you are traveling to the city or live in the city and is in search of the best desserts, below are the top dessert places in Cebu and their best sellers.

Fudge (Lava Cake)

Address: A.S. Fortuna Street, Mandaue City, Cebu

Phone: (032) 416 1727

Address: Stall 429, Level 4, Ayala Center Roof Deck, Cebu Business Park, Brgy. Luz,

Fudge is a widely popular dessert restaurant in the city and everyone will be very happy to know that they have just opened their second branch in Ayala. We went to their Ayala branch 2 days after Christmas. I had just been back from Singapore and I was looking for something sweet.

Fudge, in my opinion, serves the best Lava cake in the city. The delicious dessert is just to die for. Served hot with vanilla ice cream, the heavenly chocolate syrup oozes from the cake’s core and it is something that you will constantly look for once you taste it. Just be careful not to eat it right away as it is quite hot when served.

Dessert Factory (Apocalypse Now)

Address: Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City

Phone: (032) 233 2351

The Dessert Factory is another favourite hang out of people with sweet tooth. They have an extensive menu filled with delicious cakes and drinks. I am a chocolate maniac so naturally I chose another chocolatey dessert called Apocalypse Now. I admit I was fascinated with the name of the dessert and that’s the main reason why I ordered it but I was not disappointed with my decision.

La Marea (Warm Brownie Cup)

Addres: The Walk, Abad Street, Cebu City

Phone: (032) 416 2348

If the word La Marea is mentioned, I always get a picture of their warm brownie cup, although they have other equally delicious desserts. One of the best desserts a foodie can ever discover, it is rich, indulgent and flavourful. It may not look as spectacular as it tastes, but it is a testament that you should never judge a book by its cover. You will be pleasantly surprised with it.

Gelatissimo

Address: Stall # G-100, Level 1 The Terraces, Ayala Center Business Park, Cebu City

Phone: (032) 233 1009

If I’m craving for something cold and sweet, ice cream to be exact, I always go to Gelatissimo. I have always loved gelato and Gelatissimo is my favourite place in Cebu to get gelato. With a wide variety of flavours to choose from, your craving will certainly be satisfied. Aside from the classic favourites chocolate and vanilla, there are also more adventurous flavours to try such as Rum and Raisin, as well as Black Sesame.

So far, these are the only places on my list. I have been gone for more than 6 months and I have just discovered that more dessert restaurants have opened while I was gone. I will be sampling their best sellers soon and will be putting more on my list.
