The island of El Nido is a 6-hour drive away from Puerto Princesa. Some say it is best to travel to the island early in the morning so that there is still daylight when you arrive while others have said it is best to travel […]

I have read many nightmarish stories about friends rushing to the airport anticipating their flights only to be told that their flight was delayed or worse, cancelled. This is something upsetting especially if you have been looking forward to your trip.
One of the most common aggravations which affect passengers from all over the world is flight delay. This is a situation which is sure to raise everyone’s blood pressure. However, instead of getting angry, why not learn the many ways of minimizing the risks of flight delays?
Avoid airlines where delays are common
Most airlines keep a track of their performance and post this online on their websites. Make sure you look at this information before booking your flights. Regardless of how tempting the price may be, if you do not want to get disappointed avoid booking airlines which have a reputation for being delayed.
Whenever possible avoid connecting flights
One of the worst things that can happen from a flight delay is missing your connecting flight. It is best to avoid connecting flights altogether. If you have no other choice but to get a connecting flight, you have to ensure that there is enough time in between flights to accommodate possible delays.
Avoid the last flight of the day
You certainly do not want to book the last flight of the day and find out that it has been cancelled. Pick a flight which leaves an hour or two before the day’s last flight. In case your flight gets cancelled, you still have an option of booking the last flight and getting to your destination without spending the night at the airport.
If you are traveling solo, it is important that you pack light. Packing light means bringing with you only the bare essentials. When you do not have to check-in any luggage, you will be able to get out of the airport quickly and easily. There […]
Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, Malaysia’s vibrant capital, Kuala Lumpur is a juxtaposition of modern skyscrapers built in the last 50 years, as well as grand buildings dating back from the early 19th century. The diverse cultures of the Malays, Chinese and Indians make it […]
Being subjected to culture, which does not have the slightest semblance to what your everyday life is, can be unnerving. Subjecting your palate to tastes which you have hitherto never tried can be uncomfortable.
Surprises can be very good but they are, for the most part, unpleasant. If you want to make the most of your every journey, you have to be prepared to be pulled out of your comfort zone, you have to be prepared to part ways with the familiar and you have to be prepared to embrace the bizarre, the unheard of and even the often avoided.
Traveling means not only preparing your budget, clothes and other essentials; it also means preparing your mind to be open to the infinite possibilities you might and will encounter on the road.
Always think for yourself
Do not just go with the flow, you should learn to think for yourself. Never let anyone make choices for you, be it which food to order on the menu, or which bus to take to your destination. Just because somebody said something does not taste particularly good should not stop you from trying it and finding out for yourself. We live in a world where everybody is expected to conform but how can you express what you truly feel and how can you discover who you truly are if you keep suppressing yourself?
If you do happen not to love that food which everyone so disliked, the upside is you never have to eat it ever again but you can’t really know you won’t like it unless you try.
Do not let other people’s experiences define or dictate yours
If you are a traveler you will inevitably come across that person who has nothing but bad things to say about a place. The food? Rubbish. The people? Rude. The sights? Nothing incredible. To sum it all up in one word, mundane. Some people happen to enjoy some places while others absolutely abhor them. Just because a friend has had some unsavory experience in India does not mean that the same thing will happen to you. He might hate Rajasthan but you might happen to enjoy it immensely.
You can never be prepared enough
When you are prepared, you have better chances of enjoying your trip because there are fewer things you need to worry about. Forgetting something essential for your trip will put you through a lot of unnecessary stress and it will prevent you from focusing on the experience of a lifetime.
In case you do forget something, there is no reason to panic. Usually you will be able to buy essentials wherever you are. It might be a little different from what you are used to but you shouldn’t sweat the small things
Keep an open mind when you travel and you will open yourself to all the good things the universe has to offer.
If you are like me you make a careful list of all the things you should pack when you travel. However, a lot of women leave things to chance and often forget to pack essentials when going on a trip. When they get to their […]
