Fun, Fun, Fun in Sentosa

Sentosa is the popular resort island in Singapore which is a must-visit place whenever you are in the country. More than 5 million people a year come to Sentosa to relax and enjoy themselves. Some of the attractions of the island are the 2 golf courses; 2 five-star hotels; a 2-kilometer sheltered beach; and Resorts World Sentosa which features the theme park, Universal Studios Singapore.


The name Sentosa means “peace and tranquility in Malay and is derived from the Sanskrit word Santosha.


Visitors can go to Sentosa from mainland Singapore through a short causeway or cable car ride from Mount Haber which passes through Harbourfront en route to the final destination. The cable car costs $26 for adults and $15 for children.

There are three bus services within the island; namely the Red, Blue and Yellow lines. There is also a tram service called the Beach Train. Private passenger cars are also allowed on the island.

Guests can also enter the island via walking over the Sentosa Boardwalk parallel to the causeway, which cost $70 million to build. The Sentosa boardwalk is open 24 hours daily and entry is $1 per person.

      1. I grew up in Canada, lived in California, been to Europe, Asia, Africa…. Not only is south america quickly becoming my favorite continent, but Colombia my favorite country I’ve ever been to!

    1. Hi Lee! Singapore is a nice place. I have just visited your blog and saw that you have quite a few places planned for 2014. I am starting 2014 with a trip to Borobudur. I see from your picture that you have been there. Any recommendations?


      1. It takes around an hour to get from Yogyakarta to Borobudur by public transport (taxi is the only option as buses require at least 2 changes on the way). If you are planning to see the sunrise at Borobudur you may want to consider staying at the hotel near the temple complex.
