Being stuck in Singapore during the Chinese New Year holidays can either be a bore or an adventure, depending on how you look at it and how you spend your time. Me, I chose to go out and explore the city which I have called home for the last 3 years. Why stay indoors and be sedentary all day long when there are many places to discover, right?
Well on the second day of the Chinese New Year, my friends and I decided to go trekking and exploring MacRitchie Nature Trail and Reservoir Park. It was an arduous 4-hour trek and we covered the park’s 11 kilometers area. Not an easy feat but thanks to chocolate bars; peanut butter sandwich; water for much needed hydration; and several stops along the way, we were able to make it through. There was no mishaps save for the fact that my shoes gave up just when I got home.
MacRitchie Nature Trail is indeed a sanctuary. Full of verdant greens and the music of birds, it is an excellent place to trek either alone or in the company of friends. If you have time to spare while in city and the strength to go on a 4-hour trek, MacRitchie is a definite place to check.
