I fall in love quite easily, but not with people. I am more inclined to fall in love with places than with people and I am not sure if that is a bad thing or a good thing. My wallet may not like this but it is something which enriches my soul and it is a passion which I will pursue until I am well into my 80s. Traveling delights my heart and my heart skips a beat every time I set foot on a city I have never been to before.

Hi! I am Jhoana Carla but you can call me Jhoana or Lala. I was born in one of the Philippines’ 7,107 islands and I am currently residing in Singapore working in a 9 to 5 office job. To travel the world is my dream and I believe that doing so does not mean you have to file for bankruptcy. I am always on the lookout for deals which will allow me to travel and see the world in my own terms and without going over budget.

Me, backpacking in Cambodia

For me traveling and seeing the world in a budget does not mean depriving yourself of all the good things different destinations have to offer. You can still get the most from your journeys with the right research and planning. I do not claim to be someone who is an expert on budget travel. I am still learning as I plan more trips to some of the most beautiful and amazing places in the world.

Aside from traveling, my other passions are photography and literature. I have written quite a lot of poems but I am still thinking if I should publish them here or not. I am not a pro in Photoshop as you can clearly see from my pictures but everyday I am learning techniques in Lightroom and Photoshop which will be of use to me later on.

I update my blog whenever I get new ideas or whenever I have something worth writing about so do check regularly and do not forget to subscribe. I apologize for the quality of some photos, they were taken before I got myself a decent SLR camera.

There are so many people to meet, so many places to see and so many cultures to get to know that it is a travesty not to travel the world. Come on a journey with me and let us discover the world together.

    1. Hi Suze, I am actually from the Philippines and I am currently residing in Singapore but i will be traveling to Thailand within the year. It is definitely one of the top destinations here in Southeast Asia. It is certainly a beautiful and dynamic country.

    1. Yes, their cuisine is diverse as it is influenced by Malay, Chinese and Indian cooking. You can find good food anywhere in Singapore but I do not agree so much with the cheap part. Having lived in thr country for more than 2 years, I can say food is anything but cheap.

      1. Really?? Compared to Australia it is dirt cheap! Well, at least eating out was for us. We could eat dinner for $4.50 SGD where the same thing in Australia would’ve cost $10 SGD if we are lucky! We did notice that fresh food was not cheap though.

  1. Your blog sounds wonderful, I’ll try to get some inspirations for my next trip to south-east Asia. I went to Singapore and Malaysia (Borneo) in December 2013, and i may go back there soon 🙂
